The annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon on Oct. 2 drew more than 700 Susan G. Komen Ozark pink-clad supporters to the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale and brought in more than $85,000.

Proceeds from the luncheon, Race for the Cure and other Komen Ozark fundraisers stay in Northwest Arkansas and help support local breast cancer charities. Komen Ozark awarded $725,000 to 10 such groups for the 2015-16 grant year.

Ten area "Big Wigs" have donned outrageously pink wigs in the past several weeks to compete against each other to raise more than $30,000 for Komen Ozark, well surpassing their goal of $10,000. Of the 10, Missy Clifton raised the most, earning her the title Top Big Wig. Others vying for the title were Ginger Brooks, Adam Dill, Wendy Dunn, Carla Herren, Greg Leding, Al Lopez, Diana Marshall, John Williams and Kelly Zega.

The ladies luncheon featured a fall fashion show highlighting breast cancer survivors as the models. Models were Jackie Bolt, Ann Krusemark, Jeanette Litiker, Terri Mallioux, Debbie Power, Kathy Prince, Pam Reid, Kahla Scroggins and Cindy Velotta.

Fashion was also part of the festivities on Oct. 3 as Northwest Arkansas Fashion Week organizers played host to a fall fashion show and art exhibition featuring local artists and designer Judith + James at Archetype Productions in Fayetteville.

The group's annual spring series of shows to benefit local charities took a break this year, but Jordan Sherrod, board president, tells me they'll be back on the runway bigger and better in March 2016. He said that along with local charities, the group wants to support our arts community, including photographers, designers and chefs.

Among those out for an evening of fall fashion were Sarah Fennell and Boo Buchanon, Sunshine Broder, Jodie Franklin and Kevin Ruff, Lawrence Stratigakis, Matthew Ramsey, Eric Gilreath, Joelle Storet, Jade Howard, Payton and Robert Bridewell, Anthony Davis, Darcy Munoz, Rachel Sherin and Jessica Whalen.

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art showed its appreciation Wednesday for museum supporters and sponsors of its Frank Lloyd Wright house by treating them to a luncheon and one of the first tours of the house that is now at home at Crystal Bridges.

Scott Eccleston, Crystal Bridges director of facilities and grounds, took us through the process of the house coming to the museum in Bentonville from Millstone, N.J. From meeting with the home's owners, Sharon and Lawrence Tarantino in New Jersey, acquiring it in 2013, dismantling, labeling, packing, shipping and re-assembling the house 1,235 miles away on museum grounds. He thanked donors, telling them, "We had the project, we knew it would affect lives and you stepped up."

The Tarantinos had been looking for an institution to purchase and relocate the house to save it from repeated floods of the Millstone River. Both of them architects who purchased and restored the house in 1988, Sharon told us at the luncheon, "This is a huge milestone for us in saving the house."

Sponsors for the house and grounds are P. Allen Smith, Superior Automotive, Harrison and Rhonda French Family, Meza Harris and the Tartaglino-Richards Family Foundation.

Those gathering for the special luncheon and tour included Marilyn Bogle, Tina and David Bogle, Ann McKenzie, Becky and Bob Bogle, P. Allen Smith, Meza Harris, Mary Ann and Reed Greenwood, Lindsey and Brock Gearhart, Rhonda and Harrison French and Marlon Blackwell.
