VOLLEYBALL

ASU ranked 25th in AVCA poll

Arkansas State is ranked 25th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll, which was released Monday, for the first time The Red Wolves (28-1) received 89 points and joined Kentucky as the only teams to enter the poll this week. Arkansas State has won 24 consecutive matches and won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament after beating Appalachian State 3-2 in the tournament final Sunday.

SAU’s Bryant earns GAC honor

Southern Arkansas’ Rosa Bryant was named Great American Conference women’s player of the week Monday. Bryant averaged 21.3 points and 15.3 rebounds per game in helping Southern Arkansas win three road games. She had 18 rebounds against Texas A&M-Commerce and 19 against Southeastern Oklahoma State.

Harding women win home opener

A’ndrea Haney and London Williams both scored 18 points to lead the Harding women (3-1) to a 69-47 victory over Christian Brothers on Monday night at Rhodes-Reaves field House in Searcy. Sydney Layrock also had 12 points and made 8 of 10 free throws for Harding

Williams Baptist women remains undefeated

Alisha Stone scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Williams Baptist women (6-0) to a 72-69 victory over University of the Ozarks on Monday night in Walnut Ridge. Porche Hall scored 13 points and had 14 rebounds for Walnut Ridge.

Central Baptist falls to SW Baptist

The Central Baptist College men lost 86-85 to Southwest Baptist at Bolivar, Mo., on Monday night. Jalyn McBride led the Mustangs with 18 points. Arty Pavlov had 12, Mon’Darrius Benson 11 and Fred Albright 10.

Harding players earn acadeic honors

Harding midfielders Audrey Adkison and Josiah Ireland were named CoSIDA second-team Academic All America for the second consecutive year.

Adkison, a health and kinesiology major with a 4.0 grade-point average, started all 21 games for Harding and helped the Lady Bisons win the Great American Conference regular season and conference championships.

Ireland, a mathematics major with a 4.0 grade-point average, played in all 18 games for the Bisons and started 15.
