BENTONVILLE -- A Henderson, Nev., woman was arrested Friday after she fled from police.

Sharon Newman, 43, was arrested in connection with aggravated assault on a family or household member, fleeing, first-degree terroristic threatening, reckless driving and an expired vehicle license. She was being held in the Benton County Jail with no bond set Friday.

Bentonville police received a 911 call at 1:33 a.m. Friday saying Newman displayed a firearm to another person and then drove away in a vehicle.

Newman was in Bentonville to meet an acquaintance she met on the Internet, according to a Bentonville Police Department news release.

Police went to the area and after finding the vehicle, attempted a traffic stop, according to the release. Newman failed to stop and officers followed the vehicle outside of Bentonville. The pursuit continued into Washington County.

Newman eventually lost control of her vehicle and wrecked in Fayetteville, according to the release.

Newman was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville where she was treated and discharged. She then was taken into custody by Bentonville police.
