In 3-vehicle accident, 1 driver dies, 1 runs off

A Centerton man died Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle wreck in Benton County, Arkansas State Police said.

Aron Nathaniel Romero, 33, of Centerton was driving east on Arkansas 12 in a 2001 Honda Accord when he changed lanes and rear-ended a 2003 Honda, state police reported. Romero's car then went into the westbound lane and was struck by another vehicle.

The third vehicle fled the scene of the wreck, which occurred at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, state police said.

The driver of the 2003 Honda, Kortney Payton, 17, of Bentonville was not injured, according to state police.

Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash, state police reported.

State police also reported Monday that a Harrison man died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Boone County.

Joseph Dezort, 83, of Harrison was a passenger in a vehicle that attempted to turn east onto Arkansas 43 from an unspecified road in Harrison, state police reported. The vehicle failed to yield and was struck on the passenger side by another vehicle.

The wreck occurred at 8:15 a.m. Friday, according to state police.

The driver of Dezort's vehicle, Camilla Dezort, 83, of Harrison was injured and transported to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, state police said.

State police reported conditions were misty and foggy, and roads were wet at the time of the collision.
