A Helena-West Helena man was killed early Sunday when his SUV rolled off the highway and into a lake, Arkansas State Police reported.
The wreck occurred about 2:30 a.m. on Arkansas 44 in Phillips County.
According to a preliminary accident report, Ronnie Mitchell, 35, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer west when he lost control and drove off the south side of the highway. The SUV overturned into the ditch and then landed in Old Town Lake.
Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene about 4 a.m.
Conditions were clear and roads were wet at the time of the accident, police said.
