SPRINGDALE -- Josh Farrell kept his promise.

Playing in his third Chick-A-Tee Invitational, Farrell -- a former University of Arkansas golfer and Springdale native who now lives in Dallas -- began to think of his grandfather as he worked his way through the final round Sunday at Springdale Country Club en route to a four-stroke win at the 77th Dwight Collins Chick-A-Tee.

"A long time ago I promised my granddad (Hays Biggs) that I would win this one," Farrell said. "Then of course I went to college and I played mini-tours for four years and went through all of that.

"So I was thinking about that. My granddad has passed away, but at least I made good on my promise."

Farrell, 32, entered the final round of the rain-shortened 36-hole event with a three-stroke lead after a 5-under par 67 Saturday. Playing with 2013 Chick-A-Tee winner Steven Dixon and 2012 champion Icem Brewer, Farrell was never seriously threatened by either Dixon or Brewer, or the rest of the Championship Flight pack.

His final round even par 72 gave him a two day total of 5-under 139, good for a four-stroke victory over both Brewer and Dixon, who finished at 1-under 143.

"There was no drama but then there was a lot of drama," Farrell said. "Everybody was burning the edges and nobody really made anything. Steven (Dixon) came out on our first hole and made a 35-footer and I thought, OK, game on. But from that point forward it was like nothing really happened."

Farrell began his round on No. 10, with the final group finishing up on the original nine holes at Springdale Country Club. After a one-over start on his first seven holes allowed Dixon to pull within one shot and Brewer within three, a birdie by Farrell at the 311-yard par four 16th began his push to the title.

Two more birdies at No. 1 and No. 2 increased Farrell's lead back to four strokes. Dixon would cut the margin back to three shots with a birdie at the par four 4th, but back-to-back bogies on Dixon's card to finish the round prevented any further rally.

"(Josh) separated himself from the pack on the first day, so we definitely would have had to gone low to challenge that.

"You get the wedge in your hands a lot on this course so there's a lot of chances to score, but none of us got any putts to fall today. And it ended up being kind of a boring day. We all kept it around even par and we never put any pressure on him."

In the Senior Flight, Jarrell Williams won by two strokes over Milton Ball, shooting a two-day total of 147.
