SPRINGDALE -- The Northwest Arkansas Naturals game with Arkansas was rained out Monday after several hours of off-and-on heavy rain showers at Arvest Ballpark. The two teams will play a doubleheader today. The first of two seven innings games will start at 11:05 a.m.
It will be the Naturals' third doubleheader in the last week. The Naturals have a 5 1/2 lead game over Arkansas in the North Division standings with eight games remaining in the first half of the season. The North Division first-half winner qualifies for the Texas League playoffs.
Earlier, four Northwest Arkansas players were selected as starters for the Texas League All-Star Game on June 30 in Corpus Christi, while four other Naturals were selected to the North roster. First baseman Balbino Fuenmayor, second baseman Angel Franco, designated hitter Mike Bianucci and outfielder Jorge Bonifacio will start. Infielders Raul Mondesi and Alex Liddi, outfielder Terrance Gore and pitcher J.C. Sulbaran will also play in the 79th annual game.
