Mojitos & Moonflowers

Benefiting the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, Moonflowers & Mojitos cocktail party is back for another season of mixing, mingling and nibbling on hors d'oeuvres. The event is Tuesday from 5:30-8 p.m.

The evening's signature cocktail, mojitos, will accompany live music by Bill Dollar & The Loose Change. Guests will stroll through the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks and also be privy to complimentary wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages.

An art show featuring local artists will feature works on display and for sale, with a commission supporting the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks. Works by artists Christina Mariotti, Karolyn Farrell and MM Kent will be shown at this event.

Admission for members is $20 and $25 for non-members. Reservations are suggested and can be made online at bgozarks.org/events-2/3567-2 or by calling (479) 750-2620.

Raising Cane's

announces open date

The corner of East Millsap Road and North College Avenue in Fayetteville has been under construction for months, and the first business to open on the corner will be Raising Cane's.

The self-pronounced chicken expert restaurant has created a local page and posted a public grand opening date of July 30.

Raising Cane's is a Louisiana-based chain restaurant with a simple menu that features chicken fingers, French fries, coleslaw and Texas toast. The restaurant has a statement that emphasizes high-quality, fresh-meat chicken that is marinated for 24 hours, then hand-battered and cooked to order.

The limited menu allows Raising Cane's to focus on "an exceptionally high quality product served quickly and conveniently," according to the website.

Some come, some go

A sign posted outside 701 N. Thompson Street in Springdale where Hawaiian Brian's was once housed is teasing the opening of El Dorado Taqueria.

The Burger Patti, located at 3327 W. Wedington Drive in Fayetteville, has permanently closed.

Greenland is touting a new homestyle cafe named the Pirate's Cove Cafe. The restaurant is located at 201 N. Main and is open daily at 6 a.m. Breakfast and lunch are served until 2 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, and the cafe stays open until 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

The Pirate's Cove Cafe Facebook page has 31 reviews with a 4.9 star rating (out of 5 stars total). Daily specials are typically priced $6-7 and have included pot roast, beef tips with noodles, meatloaf, taco salad, Frito pie or chicken pot pie. From-scratch desserts include house-made blueberry pie, chocolate banana pie and chocolate mystery cake for $2.95 a slice.
