FAYETTEVILLE -- Jo Lynn Jackson pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Washington County Circuit Court to felony charges of filing a false police report, reckless burning, resisting arrest and fleeing.

Jackson, 54, is charged with filing a false police report in which she claimed a Washington County jailer sexually assaulted her when she was in jail.

Jackson claimed Deputy Elisabeth Walter made her perform a sex act behind a shower curtain during a nighttime check, according to court documents. Investigators watched videos from the cell block from the evenings Walter worked and Jackson was a detainee and found Walter never went into the shower area with Jackson. Walter denied any wrongdoing and passed a lie detector test.

Jackson was arrested June 24 for reckless burning and public intoxication. Police said she set a fire in her driveway and the fire spread and threatened nearby apartments.

Jackson was given a Sept. 8 trial date. She is being held at the Washington County Jail in lieu of $8,500 bond.
