6 freshmen at UA earn fellowships

FAYETTEVILLE -- Six incoming freshmen have been named Bodenhamer Fellows at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Each fellowship offers $70,000 in financial support.

Students must score 32 on the ACT or 1400 on the SAT and have a 3.8 grade point average to apply, with fellows also selected based upon their community service and extracurricular activities, according to UA.

The 2015 fellows are: Adam Bliss, of North Little Rock; Chen-Bo Fang, of Little Rock; Erin Farmer, of Fayetteville; Kali Fleming, of McCrory; Clark Kennedy, of Little Rock; and Vanessa Weidling, of Cabot.

The group will travel to Washington, D.C. later this month for a five-day trip as part of the award, visiting the Capitol and the Library of Congress, among other sites.

The Bodenhamer Foundation, through its trustee Lee Bodenhamer, established the UA fellowships in 1998. The money from the fellowship can be used to pay for attendance at conferences, study abroad or special equipment, in addition to the cost of attending UA.
