According to a report released Monday, 23-year-old Jada Latrice Latimer pulled out the small knife and opened it with her mouth when confronted by an employee at Family Dollar, 5200 W. 65th St. The employee later told police that he had watched as Latimer stuffed items into her bag.

Latimer fled the store but was soon spotted by police two blocks away at the intersection of Lancaster Road and Daven Court, the report states. A foot chase began, and Latimer ran about 450 feet before an officer caught up to her near Lancaster Road Baptist Church.

The officer ordered Latimer to the ground at gunpoint.

The items Latimer had purportedly stolen were found along Daven Court, police said. Officers took her back to Family Dollar, and the items, valued at a total $103.35, were returned.

She was later booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of aggravated robbery, theft of property and fleeing.
