Officers responded about 9 a.m. to 1217 S. Jackson St. off West 12th Street, the home of Fred Pohnka Jr. His work supervisors looked for him at the one-story house and called police when no one answered the door, according to a police report. Pohnka's vehicle was still in the driveway.

Officers entered the home and found Pohnka "in a pool of blood," lying on the kitchen floor, the report states. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police spokesman Lt. Steve McClanahan said Pohnka's home had been "ransacked." Investigators were working to determine what was taken from the residence.

Property records show Pohnka, who was a Regions Bank security guard, purchased the house in 2010. His killing was the 16th homicide this year in Little Rock.

No arrests had been made late Wednesday. An investigation is ongoing.
