Where I live: I have lived with my husband, Jamie, and our three children -- Jalie, 10, Jakeb, 8, and Jaren, 6, in the Villages of Wellington in west Little Rock for five years. We also share our home with Judge, a black lab and master hunting dog.
Occupation: I am the vice president of government relations for the Arkansas Hospital Association.
My favorite space is: My outdoor covered deck.
Why? My husband and I are outdoorsy people and love all of the beautiful seasons in Arkansas. With this covered addition, we can enjoy all kinds of weather and hang out as a family at the same time. We do lots of bird watching and squirrel watching from the deck. It is not screened in but it is very high off of the ground -- maybe 30 feet or so -- so we don't have to worry with bugs much. We enjoy grilling and eating on the deck, and kicking back with a glass of wine after a long day. We have plenty of seating and lots of pillows around the outdoor fireplace, which makes the space great for entertaining. And the view of the backyard is great! It's half an acre -- rare for the Villages of Wellington -- and a green space behind us.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Add a winch or pulley system to the stacked wood section below so that we wouldn't have to lug wood up the stairs.
