Hutchinson, legislative leaders to offer preview of session

LITTLE ROCK — Incoming Gov. Asa Hutchinson and legislative leaders are set to speak to editors and reporters from around Arkansas about the forthcoming session of the Legislature.

Hutchinson, incoming House Speaker Jeremy Gillam and Senate President Jonathan Dismang are scheduled to speak at a Tuesday forum sponsored by the Arkansas Associated Press Managing Editors Association.

The 2015 legislative session begins Jan. 12. Hutchinson will be sworn in Jan. 13.

The session is expected to focus on the future of the state's compromise Medicaid expansion, which faces an uncertain future after several opponents were elected last year. Hutchinson hasn't said whether he backs continuing the program.

Another major agenda item for the session is Hutchinson's proposal to cut income taxes for the middle class by $100 million a year.
