Omori leads Bassmaster Classic
Takahiro Omori of Emory, Texas, leads after the second day of the Bassmaster Classic at Lake Hartwell in Greenville, S.C.
Omori caught five fish Saturday, weighing 16 pounds, 11 ounces and leads with 31-11 through two days, a two-ounce lead over first-day leader Dean Rojas of Lake Havasu, Ariz.
Rojas caught five fish weighing 10-7.
Michael Iaconelli, who was ninth after the first day, moved into third place with five fish weighing 16-9 for a two-day total of 31-0.
Randy Howell of Springville, Ala., is in fourth place with 30-11 after weighing 15-6 Saturday. Casey Atchley of Donalds, S.C. is in fifth place with 29-14 after weighing in 14-11 Saturday.
Mike McClelland of Bella Vista is in 15th place with a two-day total of 25-6. He caught four fish, which weighed 13-4. Mount Ida’s Mark Davis is in 25th place at 22-3. Scott Rook of Little Rock is in 39th place at 14-12. Hot Springs’ Stephen Browning is in 40th at 14-2. Mayflower’s Kevin Short fell from 29th to 44th with a two-day total of 10-8.

Arkansas Baptist knocks off Mid-South
Dexter Porchia and Deante Thomas each scored 21 points as the Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes took a 93-83 victory over Mid-South College in West Memphis. Arkansas Baptist (17-10) also picked up 17 points from Fred Albright, 13 form D.J. Reed and 10 from Mike Ayers. The Buffaloes are scheduled to play at Harrison against North Arkansas Community College on Monday night.
Macon earns MACJC honors
Holmes Community College guard Daryl Macon, a freshman from Little Rock Parkview, was selected as the MACJC player of the week for the week of Feb. 8 through Feb. 14. It was the third time this season that Macon had earned the honor.
Macon scored 31 points in a victory over Mississippi Delta, hitting 13 of 21 shots from the floor, including a 5 of 10 effort from three-point range. Macon followed that effort with a 21-point outing in a 74-64 victory over East Mississippi.
He is averaging 23.9 points a game.
