LITTLE ROCK — Large hail and tornadoes are possible with a storm system poised to move across Arkansas this week.

The National Weather Service said thunderstorms are likely Tuesday night and early Wednesday in western Arkansas, and large hail is a possibility. On Wednesday, much of the state is at risk for isolated tornadoes, powerful winds and large hail as the system heads out of the state.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., said a section of Arkansas is at an enhanced risk Wednesday for severe weather, meaning numerous severe storms are possible. The National Weather Service said the highest threat for severe weather in Arkansas will be Wednesday afternoon and evening in the far southeastern and eastern areas of the state.
