— Brandon Allen has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game, he told reporters Wednesday.

The fifth-year quarterback had a breakout season in 2015, completing 65.1 percent of his passes for 3,125 yards and 29 touchdowns while throwing only seven interceptions.

He already owns the UA single-game (7) and career (63) records for touchdown passes and needs just three more to tie Ryan Mallett's single-season record set in 2010.

Allen is the only quarterback in Arkansas history to throw more than five touchdowns in a game, completing six against Ole Miss and seven against Mississippi State this year.

His 7,148 career passing yards rank fourth in school history and his 442-yard game against Ole Miss is the second highest total.

While he is the first Arkansas player known to accept an invitation for the East-West Shrine Game this year, offensive lineman Sebastian Tretola and running back Jonathan Williams have already accepted Senior Bowl invitations.

Since it was created 90 years ago, 39 Razorbacks have played in the game, including Dylan Breeding, Zach Hocker and Kiero Small in recent years.

This season's game is on Jan. 23, 2016, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. It will be televised by the NFL Network.
