Jose's on Dickson Street is closed and will reopen next year as JJ's Grill.

Doug Allen, one of the owners of Jose's, said he and business partner Joe Fennel wanted to focus on other projects while continuing to be a part of Dickson Street. That led to a partnership with Jody Thornton, owner of JJ's Grill.

"We've been working on this about six months or so," Allen said. "We've had a lot of offers for a lot of different concepts, and JJ's was a good fit."

Thornton said Allen and Fennel will own a small part of the business, and JJ'smanagement will run the day-to-day operations.

Jose's served its last margarita Sunday and is closed for extensive renovations to the building and patio. Thornton anticipates reopening in late summer or early spring.

"We have some new, exciting things we are going to implement," he said. "We are really trying to put a fresh new fact on 324 Dickson St., the most historic address down there."
