Sales tax revenue up in area cities

Sales tax revenues were up over last year for the most part in the region this month.

Cities receive sales tax collected in June in mid-August.

Rogers was up 14.4 percent this August over last year with $1,456,329.

Fayetteville was up 8.4 percent this August over last year with $1,653,703.

Springdale was up 3.5 percent this August over last year with $1,074,141.

Bentonville was down 1.1 percent or roughly $10,000 this August over last year with $897,671.

Finance directors attributed the strong showing this month to vacationers within the region during the month of June but cautioned that increases must level off at some point.
