One person died when a small plane crashed Sunday morning in El Dorado, according to the Union County sheriff's office.
Just before noon, authorities received a 911 call that a small aircraft had crashed near South Arkansas Regional Airport at Goodwin Field, Sheriff Mike McGough said.
Deputies found a crash site in a wooded area off Arkansas 82, McGough said. The pilot, the only person in the plane, was found dead.
Sunday afternoon, the sheriff's office secured the area, and officers from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were investigating.
The man's identity was not released Sunday.
