Body found, sent to state lab for ID

SALEM -- Authorities sent a decomposed body found in Fulton County to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock to see if it is that of a man reported missing in July, Fulton County Sheriff Buck Foley said.

Foley said someone found the body Sunday in woods near Viola.

Medical examiners will use DNA and dental records to determine whether the body is that of Kenneth Niemmanhemindah, 59, of Viola. Neimmanhemindah's family reported him missing on July 1 after he apparently walked away from his home, Foley said.

The Fulton County sheriff's office issued a Silver Alert advisory, which is a public notification system about missing persons.

Foley said the body was discovered about 2 miles from Niemmanhemindah's home.

He said he hoped to know the person's identity by the end of the week.
