2 killed, 3 injured in crashes in state

Two people died on Arkansas roadways Saturday, including a Hope man who was ejected from a truck during a rollover, state police reported.

Ansoncion Marrufo-Hernandez, 42, was a passenger in a 1996 Ford F-150 traveling north on Hempstead County Road 3 near Hope when the truck left the road and overturned, police said. The crash occurred about 10:30 a.m.

According to a preliminary report, Hernandez was ejected from the truck and died.

The name of the driver was not listed in the report.

Later Saturday, a man was killed and three other people were injured when two vehicles collided on U.S. 70.

Breanna R. Talbert, 25, of Conway was driving a 2006 Jeep west in Saline County when she crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 2005 Toyota 4Runner, a report states.

The Jeep overturned and landed on its right side. The 4Runner was pushed backward onto a guardrail.

The driver of the 4Runner -- 75-year-old William H. Staton of Hot Springs -- was killed, and 75-year-old Mary V. Staton, a passenger, was injured.

Talbert, as well as a girl riding in the Jeep, were also injured.

The three injured people were taken to UAMS Medical Center and Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, and to Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton.
