MILLWOOD LAKE Largemouth bass fishing has improved and the bass are in full spawn. Francis Crappie are moving into cypress knees and trees for their spawn, and the fishing has been fairly consistent in 2-4 feet of water using live shiners and Southern Pro Lil’ Hustler tubes in white/blue. Catfish are biting well on trotlines set 9-12 feet deep near current and baited with chicken hearts, livers, gizzards, cut shad and buffalo.

LAKE NORFORK Bass are hitting jigs, swimbaits and floating worms close to the brush on the banks. The crappie bite has started, but the latest storms scattered them. Walleye fishing is starting to pick up using small crankbaits and suspending jerkbaits slow-rolled after dark on long, shallow points and flats. White bass are back in the creeks spawning but are moving back out. Top-water action for whites will start very soon. Some stripers and hybrids are coming up chasing shad early in the mornings. Zara Spooks or wake-type baits are working well.

LAKE OUACHITA Largemouth bass are biting well on soft-plastics, particularly floating worms, YUM dingers and brush hogs in green pumpkin, watermelon seed and watermelon candy. Walleye are biting well on main lake and secondary points. Striper fishing is excellent using Alabama rigs and topwater C-10 Redfins fished around Cedar Fourche and Bird Island. Bream are biting well on worms, grubs and crickets near brush in 20-25 feet of water. Crappie are biting well on crappie jigs and minnows in 10-16 feet of water. Catfishing is very good using live minnows and night crawlers suspended from jugs or trotlines.

PECKERWOOD LAKE Fishing has been very good for all species. Bass are biting well on soft-plastics and spinnerbaits. Bream are biting well on crickets. Crappie are biting best on jigs, but minnows are producing as well. Catfishing is good using live and prepared baits.
