PREP SOFTBALL

BENTONVILLE 12, FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 1

Bentonville erupted for eight runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 7A-West Conference victory Friday over Southside in Fort Smith.

That early cushion was more than enough for Lady Tigers pitcher Maddy Prough, who threw a no-hitter for four innings and finished with a two-hitter. Southside’s only run came in the sixth against reliever Brittany Crowson, and that was not enough to keep the 10-run rule from being used.

Jordan Gartman was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, while Clairie Lacina was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Tymber Riley was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored for Bentonville (13-3, 7-1).

FARMINGTON 12-12, MORRILTON 1-0

Sill earned the win in the circle, allowing just one earned run with seven strikeouts.

Farmington completed the doubleheader with a 12-0 shutout in the second game as Sill and Larkin combined on a two-hitter.

Paige Devecsery led Farmington at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double. Bethany Doty crushed a pair of doubles and drove in two runs. Brandy Wallace added a double and two RBIs and Larkin also drove in two runs.

SPRINGDALE 13, PRAIRIE GROVE 7

Mann went 3-for-4, Jones 3-for-5 and Tatum 2-for-4 as the Lady Bulldogs (5-11) racked up 13 hits in the win.
