Two Men, Two Officers Injured In Fight on Dickson Street

A man was arrested early Sunday morning in connection with beating two men and injuring two officers at the Dickson Street food court.

Nathaniel Rhodes, 25, of 3011 Congo Road in Benton was arrested Sunday in connection with two counts of felony second-degree battery, third-degree battery and second-degree criminal mischief, and misdemeanor fleeing, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and failure to appear. He was released Sunday from the Washington County Detention Center on a $5,585 bond.

Rhodes punched one man multiple times in his face, and then punched another man in his face while he was unconscious on the ground, according to an arrest report. Both men had blood all over their faces and shirts when officers arrived, and refused to go to the hospital.

Officer Jimmy Wicker, Fayetteville Police Department, saw the fight and tried to intervene by grabbing Rhodes' arm, but Rhodes pulled away and fled east on Dickson Street, according to the report.

Officer Ian White, Fayetteville Police Department, was across the street assisting with a vehicle accident, and ran after Rhodes and Wicker.

The officers caught Rhodes, who kicked at the them and tried to flee for a second time, according to the report.

White grabbed Rhodes in an attempt to get him onto the ground and twice, the two fell on top of Wicker, injuring his left shoulder and breaking his wristwatch.

The two officers and Rhodes began to roll around the street and White tore his uniform pants and got a large cut on one of his knees, according to the report. He was not taken to the hospital.

Wicker, however, was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center, according to the report. He was unable to move his left arm or close his left hand after the altercation.
