Springdale Man Faces Felony Charges

SPRINGDALE -- A 43-year-old man faces two felonies charges and a misdemeanor charge in connection with threatening to kill a 7-year-old boy, police said.

Scott Boatright of 20835 Justin Drive was arrested in connection with felony possession of firearms by a certain person and first-degree terroristic threatening, and misdemeanor public intoxication.

The boy was not hurt in the incident, police said.

A 13-year-old neighbor of Boatright called 911 after Boatright came to his residence and complained about the 7-year-old being mean to other kids, according to an arrest report.

Boatright said, "I am gonna wind up shooting him," according to the report.

The 13-year-old told police Boatright left, went back to his home and stood in the garage making movements as if he was handling a gun. The boy also said he heard a slide on a gun cocking.

When police arrived at Boatright's residence, he was standing in the garage holding a loaded shotgun, according to the report.

Police demanded Boatright drop the weapon and surrender, but he initially didn't. Instead, he walked toward police, who had their guns drawn, and said, "I have another one," and began to reach for a loaded, semi-automatic, 40-caliber pistol that was in his waistband.

When asked about the guns, Boatright told police they belong to his wife, according to the report.

Boatright admitted to police he is a convicted felon.

He was released Sunday from the Washington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
