Football: Har-Ber Rolled Again By Missouri Team

Green threw for 366 yards after Har-Ber gave up more than 400 yards on the ground last week against the Cardinals. Webb City began the week ranked No. 1 in Missouri's Class 4A while Rockhurst is No. 5 in Class 6A.

Green threw three consecutive touchdown passes to break a tie and give the Hawklets a 34-14 lead at halftime.

"T.J. has great vision and he's very active," Rockhurst coach Tony Severino said. "Sometimes, we live and die with him back there. Tonight, we lived with him."

The surge came after Brandon Still threw a touchdown pass to Tyler Blackston that went for 83 yards. Green then went to work with touchdown passes of 55 yards to Kiah Kintchen, 77 yards to Will Bazzle, and 10 yards Luke Ritter. Kintchen was wide open out of the backfield after Green rolled left and threw back across the field.

Still scored Har-Ber's first touchdown on a 3-yard run to culminate a 99-yard drive. Sophomore Trey Smith had the big play on fourth down when he broke into the open on a 55-yard run. The Wildcats fumbled away another scoring opportunity in the second quarter after driving to the Rockhurst 16-yard line.

"We don't play patsies," Har-Ber coach Chris Wood said. "We're learning and we're learning the hard way."

The scoring slowed in the third quarter when Jackson Terry added field goals of 22 and 44 yards to give Rockhurst a 40-14 lead. Luke Hannon added a 49-yard run in the fourth quarter before Green answered with a 1-yard score.

Extra Points

• Some fans may recognize the name of Rockhurst quarterback T. J. Green. The senior is the son of former NFL quarterback Trent Green, who had some of his best years with the Chiefs and St. Louis Rams. Trent Green is now a commentator for Kansas City games.

• Green didn't take long to make up for a poor decision in the second quarter. He pitched the ball to a running back while he was going down and the Hawlets were lucky to recover. Green waved a receiver downfield one play later and Will Bazzle broke off his pattern to score on a 77-yard touchdown.

• Senior linebacker Zach Ownbey had one of the few sacks Friday for Har-Ber when he dropped Green for a 9-yard loss. Ownbey later was in on a play that resulted in an 11-yard loss for the Hawklets. Har-Ber had Green trapped on another play but Green managed to get off a shuffle pass that fell incomplete.

• Rockhurst is a Roman Catholic Jesuit High School for Boys located on the Missouri and Kansas border. The Hawklets are a regional power in football with nine state championships from 1971 to 2010.

Up Next: Har-Ber will play its first game in its new stadium Friday against Conway. Har-Ber was eliminated in the playoffs last year by Conway, 52-42.
