Little Rock police on Monday continued to investigate a fatal hit-and-run that occurred about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Mabelvale Pike.
Jesusa Chavez, 47, of Little Rock was crossing the street in front of Paper Moon, a nightclub at 3310 Mabelvale Pike, when an unknown southbound vehicle struck her, according to a collision report.
Chavez was transported by ambulance to UAMS Medical Center. She was pronounced dead by emergency room staff when she arrived.
Little Rock police spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said investigators were interviewing witnesses Monday and examining debris collected at the scene. As of Monday morning, no arrests had been made.
Jesse Sumler of Little Rock was crossing the street with Chavez at the time of the accident. According to the report, Sumler said the vehicle sped up before striking Chavez, and then it continued south on Mabelvale Pike.
Another witness said the vehicle was a silver SUV.
