MARION -- Sophomore Tom Young rushed for 186 yards on 15 carries and 3 touchdowns to help the Marion Patriots beat visiting Mountain Home Bombers 32-22 in a game between two teams that had not won a game since 2012.

Mountain Home (0-7 overall, 0-4 7A/6A East) has lost 25 consecutive games.

Marion (1-6 overall, 1-3 7A/6A East) ended a 16-game losing streak.

"During the week we put in a special package with Tom lined up at quarterback, and we felt like we'd have some success with it and he came through tonight," Marion Coach Jed Davis said.

The first of Young's scores came on his second carry, when he took a hand off at Marion's 30, made one cut and ran 70 yards to the end zone for the Patriots' first lead of the season at 6-0. A Tyler Holmes completion to Collin Chambers gave the home team an 8-0 advantage.

A key sequence came with 4:52 left in the first half and Marion leading 8-6.

Holmes found a wide-open Landon Wilson for a 43-yard score and a 14-6 lead, and the Patriots recovered an onside kick immediately after that score.

Haston Orewiler found Collin Chambers for a 49-yard touchdown pass and a 20-6 lead. The two scores came less than a minute apart.

Young's second touchdown, a 6-yard run, came on the fourth play of the fourth quarter, to give Marion a 26-14 advantage with 10:56 left in the game.

Young took a first-down hand off and went 60 yards with 6:25 to play in the game, and Marion led 32-14.

Mountain Home pulled within 10 points late in the game when junior quarterback Zane Walker from 2 yards out. Walker added the two-point conversion to get his Bombers within 32-22, but Marion would recover the ensuing onside kick and would then run the clock out.

Walker added a 22-yard touchdown pass just before halftime to Walker Seats to get Mountain Home within 20-14 at the break.
