BENTONVILLE -- A Watts, Okla., man was acquitted of felony charges in connection with setting fire to his then-home and shooting arrows at police.

Terry Jo Fulfer, 28, was charged with arson, criminal use of a prohibited weapon, aggravated assault on a family or household member and resisting arrest.

Fulfer was acquitted of all charges Thursday on the basis he has a mental disease or defect. He was arrested July 13, 2013.

Siloam Springs police were called at 6:30 p.m. July 13, 2013, to a call at 1523 Hefton Court of a suicidal man who was armed with a sword and bow and arrows, according to court documents. The man had threatened family members and threatened suicide by police officer. The report also claimed the man had several vicious dogs with him.

When officers arrived, Fulfer shot an arrow at one of them, according to court documents. The probable cause affidavit claims a second arrow also was shot. Police attempted to contact Fulfer, who had started a fire at the back of the home, the affidavit states.

Police then breached a privacy fence and saw Fulfer armed with a sword. Officers used a stun gun to subdue Fulfer.

Fulfer was arrested in April 2013 for possessing a sawed-off shotgun, according to court documents.

Tyler Williams, deputy prosecutor, said Fulfer will be committed to the Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock.
