Police Say Five Teens Tied To Northwest Arkansas Burglaries

SPRINGDALE -- Police said five teens were arrested Friday in connection with at least three commercial burglaries in two counties.

Three girls, ages 14, 15 and 16, and two boys, ages 14 and 17, were arrested in connection with multiple counts of felony commercial burglary, felony theft and felony continuing a criminal enterprise, according to a news release from the Springdale Police Department.

The first burglary happened at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the news release.

The juveniles broke into Los Cerritos at 303 N. Blooming St. in Lowell, said Springdale Lt. Derek Hudson. Surveillance video from the store showed two males and a female in the business stealing Modelo beers and leaving in a black Acura, Hudson said.

The Acura was stolen from the Tyson Corporate Office in Springdale, Hudson said.

Friday morning, two burglaries occurred in Springdale. One was about 12:15 a.m. at Family Mart at 1405 W. Shady Grove Road and the other about 1:30 a.m. at 7321 La Favorita Market at 707 N. Missouri Road, Hudson said. Surveillance video shows the juveniles stealing beer and money from those stores.

A shotgun was used to shoot out the front windows of the businesses to gain entry, according to the news release. A stolen shotgun was found with the teens and detectives were working to determine where it was stolen from, Hudson said.

The five were arrested about 11 a.m. during a traffic stop on Powell Street, according to the news release.
