An 84-year-old Roland man was killed Wednesday in a head-on crash on Cantrell Road.
Amber Wells, 18, was driving a 2003 Pontiac east on Cantrell Road about 1:16 p.m. Wednesday when she veered into the westbound lane and struck a 1999 Kia driven by Leroy Patterson, according to an accident report.
Patterson was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, where he died around 4:40 p.m.
According to the report, rescuers had to cut the front doors off Wells' Pontiac to extricate her and her passenger, Abby Smith, 17.
The teens were taken to UAMS Medical Center, but had been released by Thursday evening, according to a hospital spokesman.
Wells told police she swerved into the opposite lane to avoid a white sport utility vehicle that had veered into her lane. She then hit Patterson's Kia, the accident report says.
