Officials: Student threatens shooting in Bentonville High School note

BENTONVILLE — A student threatened to bring a gun to the high school and shoot someone in a message discovered on a girls bathroom wall at the high school Monday morning, according to Mary Ley, district spokeswoman.

A student confessed to writing the message after Jason Beeler, a student resource officer at Bentonville High School, investigated the incident and identified the suspect, Ley said.

"The parents assured school administrators they don't own any guns," Ley said. "The parents have taken the student home."

This is the third time in the past six weeks the district has dealt with some kind of threat written on a bathroom wall. The first was a bomb threat found at the high school Feb. 20. The second was found a week later at Cooper Elementary School. The person responsible for those two threats has not been discovered.

Ley declined to reveal the student's name or grade. She also couldn't say what action will be taken against the student.
