Tiffani Ray had a big day at the plate with a three-run home run in the first inning and an RBI double in the second to put Har-Ber ahead 6-0. She also threw out a Heritage runner attempting to steal.

The win by Har-Ber (6-2, 1-1) followed a 5-2 loss to Bentonville on Tuesday in its conference opener.

"The loss to Bentonville was very tough, but the kids came back and played with a lot of desire and passion," Har-Ber coach Lynn Lawson said. "We had a little lull there, but we played pretty well from the start to the end. Tiffani is centering the ball very well and I was proud that we got the bunts down when we had to."

Heritage (3-2, 1-1) put itself in trouble in the first inning with a leadoff walk and a throwing error that put runners in scoring position. Gracie Bogle popped up before Ray hit a low pitch from Dasha Donahoe over the fence in left field for a three-run home run. Har-Ber added two more runs in the inning on RBI single by Taylor Vanhook and Lyndsey Swaffar.

Har-Ber continued to batter Heritage with four runs on four hits in the second inning. Ray, Neal and Kylie Buttram each had RBI doubles in the inning for the Lady Wildcats.

"We didn't come out ready to play," Heritage coach Tiffany Taylor said. "Donahoe was off her game a bit. Our second pitcher, Lindsey Glynn, did a better job."

Bogle took over in the circle in the fifth inning for Har-Ber after Emily Stockalper allowed an RBI single to Brittany Dean and walked in a run on four pitches. Bogle pitched two scoreless innings while Vanhook padded the lead with a two-run double that scored Bogle and Neal, who each reached on singles. Neal then ended the game on the 10-run rule with an RBI triple after Ray was hit by a pitch with one out.

Donahoe had a single and double to lead the Lady War Eagles.
