• Navy Seaman Apprentice Parker Pruett, son of Theodore W. Pruett of Bentonville and Sherri A. Pruett of Conroe, Texas, completed U.S. Navy basic training in January at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

• Navy Seaman Recruit Koletun R. Hamilton, son of Amanda N. and Robert P. Hamilton of Gravette, completed U.S. Navy basic training in February at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2013 graduate of Gravette High School.

• Winston Thomas Cox and Tuan Minh Pham, both of Fort Smith, were commissioned as second lieutenants in the Arkansas Army National Guard on completion of the Army ROTC program at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. Cox earned a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership. Pham's degree is in criminal justice.

• Area enlistees in the Arkansas Army National Guard and their assignments are:

Decatur -- Pvt. Tray A. Kell, a Decatur High School graduate, 142nd Fires Brigade as a multiple launch rocket system crewmember.

Rogers -- Pvt. Brandon A. Harp, who attended high school in Texas, 39th Infantry Brigade as a cannon crewmember.

Fayetteville -- Pvt. Chad M. Rutherford, a Fayetteville High School graduate, 77th Aviation Brigade as a Blackhauk helicopter repairer; Pvt. Tony Orlando Smith Jr., a Fayetteville High School graduate, 142nd Fires Brigade as a field artillery firefinder radar operator.

Springdale -- Pvt. Charles O. Jerry John Wood Jr., a Har-Ber High School graduate, 216th Military Police Unit.

Berryville -- Pvt. Mark A. Ashby, a Berryville High School graduate, 142nd Fires Brigade as a multiple launch rocket system crewmember.
