High school dramatists produce their second season

High school dramatists produce their second season...

Coleman Ray Clark is a junior at Fayetteville High School.

Don't let that define him.

"From a young age, my parents helped me get involved in different community theaters because of my obvious love for the arts. Ever since I could walk and talk I wrote, directed and starred in my own plays, making sets out of bed sheets and using table lamps as my lighting," he says on his website. (Yes, he has his own.)

Although he's worked with many local theaters, he and fellow high school student Reed C. Carson recently started their own troupe to "perform shows that are completely youth produced. That means our actors, directors, designers and producers are all under the age of 18," he says.

New Threshold Theatre's first show, "The Iliad, The Odyssey, And All Greek Mythology In 99 Minutes Or Less," ran Jan. 10-12, 2013, to sold-out houses. This winter's production, "Completely Hollywood," is set for 7 p.m. today, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fayetteville High School black box theater.

"This fast-paced show cuts through the celluloid to condense the 186 greatest films in Hollywood's over-100-year history into a complete compilation of classic cinematic cliches," Clark says.

Tickets are $8 for students (any student of any school) and $10 for adults, available at brownpapertickets.com/event/597273 or at the door.

Clark says the show is recommended for ages 13 and older.
