Focus on assaults, group drops in on youth lockup

The state’s largest youth lockup has come under fresh scrutiny by the Disability Rights Center of Arkansas after the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that assaults nearly doubled at the facility last year.

Monitors from a nonprofit disability rights group visited Arkansas' largest youth lockup this week as part of their investigation into what caused an increase in assaults at the facility, the group's director confirmed Thursday.
