• Country music star George Strait capped off the last tour of his career with a performance at AT&T stadium in Dallas, dazzling an audience of nearly 105,000 people with duet after duet with some of the biggest names in country music. "Oh, man. I tell you what. This is too much fun," Strait said. Known for his honky-tonk style, classic interpretation of Western swing and cowboy get-up, Strait is the undisputed patriarch of a generation of country music stars, none of whom left the stage Saturday without paying homage to or receiving a hug from the country music legend. "In the early '80s when I was a young man in Georgia, I was a big fan of 'Unwound,'" Alan Jackson said of the 1981 hit that propelled Strait to stardom. "You're the reason I came to Nashville, Tenn. God bless you." Jason Aldean credited Strait as "not only a huge influence for me but everyone else in Nashville." Strait's son, Bubba, a roper on the rodeo circuit, joined his dad on stage to perform his songwriting debut, "Arkansas Dave." Strait, 62, is beloved by his fans for his everyman demeanor, which was on display Saturday. During the second half of the show, he played the 2011 hit "I'll Always Remember You," which he said was inspired by his fans. "When I take the stage for the last time, you won't be far away," he said. Although he's quitting the road, Strait renewed his deal with MCA Records last year to produce five more albums. He has said he will continue to play an occasional gig.

Melanie Griffith filed for divorce Friday from Antonio Banderas, her husband of 18 years. For years they were among Hollywood's hottest couples, with Banderas publicly supporting his wife's treatments for painkiller addiction. Griffith cited irreconcilable differences in the court filing in Los Angeles. The actors were married in 1996 and have a 17-year-old daughter. Griffith, 56, is seeking spousal support but is willing to pay her attorney fees, her filing says. Griffith signed the divorce petition May 30. They first worked together on the set of the 1995 romantic comedy Two Much. Banderas, 53, later directed his wife in the 1999 film Crazy in Alabama. Griffith has been married four times, including twice to actor Don Johnson. Banderas has one previous marriage. An email sent to the couple's publicist, Robin Baum, was not immediately returned.
