WEDNESDAY’S BOYS

JESSIEVILLE 54, ESTEM 43 Jessieville outscored eStem 21-8 in the third quarter, breaking a 23-23 tie en route to a victory in 3A-5 district quarterfinal play Wednesday night at Episcopal Collegiate’s Championship Gym. The Lions (13-12) qualified for the Class 3A Region 2 tournament next week at Benton Harmony Grove. With the score tied at 25-25 early in the second half, Jessieville blew open the game with an 8-0 run. The Lions finished the third quarter with a 7-0 run for a 44-31 lead and never let eStem (11-14) get closer than nine points again. Hunter Daley led the Lions with 21 points before fouling out with 4:38 left in the game. Anfernee Hawkins led the Mets with 13 points before fouling out in the middle of the third quarter. Favion McGhee added 12 points.

MULBERRY 65, OARK 28 Dillon Jones scored 14 points as the Yellowjackets advanced in the 1A-West Tournament over the host Hornets. Jeremy Wood scored 11 points to lead Oark.

SYLVAN HILLS 76, HELENA-WEST HELENA 73 Ronnie Hinton’s 19 points helped the Bears (9-12, 3-8) to outlast the Cougars in a 5A-Central game in Sherwood. Cordy Winston added 18 for Sylvan Hills.

WEDNESDAY’S GIRLS

ARKANSAS BAPTIST 48, ASHDOWN 38 Behind 21 points from Caroline Hogue, the Lady Eagles knocked off the LadyPanthers in the first round of the 4A-7 Tournament in Nashville. LaKendra Bradford led Ashdown with 13 points. Arkansas Baptist plays the host team in today’s quarterfinals.

BAUXITE 43, ARKADELPHIA 38 Allison Tackett’s 12 points helped the Lady Miners defeat the Lady Badgers in the opening round of the 4A-7 Tournament. Lindie Thompson added 11 for Bauxite, which will play Robinson in today’s quarterfinals.

FORREST CITY 64, GREENE COUNTY TECH 59 Sherelle McGowan scored 22 points and the Lady Mustangs (11-13, 5-6) defeated the Lady Eagles in a 5A-East game in Forrest City. JaBrisha Hawkins added 12 and Dominique Dillard put in 10 for Forrest City.

SCRANTON 75, OARK 19 Monica Blaskce scored 17 points as the Lady Rockets advanced in the 1A-West Tournament with a victory over the host Lady Hornets. Kaitlyn Kimbrough led Oark with 17 points.

VALLEY VIEW 42, POCAHONTAS 33 Ashleigh Guthrie scored 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Lady Blazers (23-5) rallied to knock off the Lady Redskins in the semifinals of the 4A-3 tournament at Highland High School. Pocahontas led 19-16 at the half, but was outscored 14-3 in the third quarter.

TUESDAY’S BOYS

JESSIEVILLE 50, FOUNTAIN LAKE 40 Sophomore Hunter Dailey scored 14points in leading the Lions over the Cobras in the opening round of play in the 3A-5 Tournament at Episcopal Collegiate. Kenton Polk and Steven Benson each added 10 points for Jessieville. Sam Crutchfield’s 12 points paced Fountain Lake (5-16) while Justin Bates scored 10 points.

MONTICELLO 56, CROSSETT 33 D.J. Franklin led the Billies (19-3, 12-0) with 19 points in an 4A-8 victory over the Eagles in Crossett. Monticello outscored Crossett 17-9 in the third quarter to take a 31-23 lead. Jalen Hudson led Crossett with 17 points.

WYNNE 66, BATESVILLE 49 Chandler Walton scored 19 points and the Yellowjackets outscored the Pioneers (2-19, 0-11) 24-6 in the second quarter for a 5A-East victory in Batesville. Kenton Crawford’s 27 points led Batesville.

TUESDAY’S GIRLS

HILLCREST 54, MAMMOTH SPRING 41 Katelyn Richey’s 27 points helped the Lady Eagles (9-18) defeat the Lady Bears in the 1A-2 North Tournament. Caitlin Whitmire added 18 points for Hillcrest. Caitlin VanGinhoven scored 13 points for Mammoth Spring.

PARAGOULD 45, GREENE COUNTY TECH 39 Sydney Layrock’s 21 points helped the Lady Rams (16-5, 11-0) defeat the Lady Eagles in a 5A-East game in Paragould. Corie Bryant and Abby Gibson added 11 each for Paragould, which led 22-15 at the half. Blair Metheny scored 11 for Greene County Tech.
