Fayetteville Named Compassionate

FAYETTEVILLE — The city was named one of about two dozen “compassionate cities” by an international group emphasizing the benefits of compassion and following the Golden Rule.

Compassionate Action Network International gave the honor to Fayetteville on Friday, according to a news release from the city. Fayetteville is the only city in Arkansas recognized by the network.

The network encourages compassionate action through policies and programs.

Compassion Fayetteville and other groups have been pursuing the honor for several months. Volunteer efforts in community gardens, helping the homeless and elderly, food pantries and other areas earned the title.
