Book Explores Agency's History

Arkansas Game & Fish Commission

Covering a hundred years of Arkansas conservation is a daunting task. A new photo book produced by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission is crafted to meet this challenge.

"A Century of Conservation" is a large format, coffee-table size publication that is on sale to the public through several avenues.

Cost is $20. The 180-page book is written and designed by the communications staff of Game & Fish.

Copies can be bought online at agfc.com, at the agency headquarters at 2 Natural Resources Drive in western Little Rock, the Ponca Elk Education Center and four nature centers around the state.

Online purchases will have $5 added for shipping. Credit cards can be used. Coupled with the photo history book will be a cookbook of 100 carefully selected recipes from AGFC staff members. The colorful cookbook will be available soon and will sell for $10.

A Christmas special will be both the photo history and the cookbook for $25. Online orders will have $5 added for shipping.

The text of the new book covers in concise bites the earliest Arkansas days with teeming game animals and fish through the settlement and overharvest decades to the 1915 creation of the Game & Fish Commission and to the days of protection, restoration and expansion.
