This raccoon didn't want to be photographed.

Nebraska defensive end Jack Gangwish saw a raccoon on the side of the road Thursday, pulled over and decided he wanted to take a picture of the varmint.

"The 21-year-old got out of his 2002 Chevy Duramax pickup and tried to take a photo with the animal using his cellphone, but the raccoon attacked, biting Gangwish in the calf," according to the Lincoln Journal-Star.

"It was a raccoon selfie gone completely wrong," Gangwish told the newspaper later that evening.

Gangwish posted a picture of the wound on Twitter and had fun with the mishap.

"Guys ... I got bit by a raccoon... It just looked so soft and friendly I couldnt help it!

"I googled rabies symptoms.. Irritability, muscle spasms, aggressiveness, confusion? I think football gives you rabies."

Gangwish had the presence of mind to realize the raccoon should be tested for rabies, so he got a crescent wrench out of his car to try to subdue it, according to the paper. He wound up killing it.

"I'm sure y'all be excited to hear that the results came back and I do not have rabies!" Gangwish tweeted late Friday afternoon.

Drive for five

John Daly (Arkansas Razorbacks, Dardanelle) is hoping the fifth time is the charm.

The two-time major champion announced Thursday that he and longtime girlfriend Anna Cladakis were engaged.

Cladakis often caddies for Daly since the two met in 2008 through her public relations work for Hooters restaurants. She also has a hand in her fiance's business affairs, which includes tending to the many fans who make the mile-long trek from Augusta National to find Loudmouth merchandise Daly sells and signs from his mobile home parked in the Hooters lot during Masters week.

"With his upcoming marriage, John Daly will soon have had as many wives as Tour wins," Golf.com Editor Eamon Lynch tweeted Friday.

Daly celebrated his announcement by taking the 36-hole lead in the Beko Classic in Turkey after firing a second-round 63 to go with an opening 66.

Daly's engagement begs one question: Does Loudmouth make wedding apparel, too?

You can play through

Fans aren't supposed to go inside the ropes at golf tournaments.

Most humans know that. Baboons? Not so much.

Former world No. 1 Luke Donald had a run-in with a primate Friday in the second round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa. After his tee shot found the 13th fairway, Donald was walking up to his ball when he heard the baboon coming toward him from behind.

The Englishman let the baboon play through, then finished off his 9-under 63 to take a two-shot lead heading into what he hopes is a weekend without any more monkey business.

Is Kobe AC Slater?

Nick Young's personality and style have earned him a nickname in the Los Angeles Lakers' locker room.

"He's the Screech of the NBA," Lakers center Robert Sacre told Sarah Kogod, a Washington D.C. writer.

Sacre was referring to a character on the late 1980s/early 1990s television show Saved by the Bell.

"Look at him!" Sacre said, pointing to Young across the locker room. "He's got the curly hair, the tight pants. He's ridiculous. He's Screech."
