2 charged in northeast Arkansas truck slaying

MARKED TREE — A man and a woman in northeast Arkansas are charged with murder in the death of a man found fatally shot under a burning truck.

Forty-eight-year-old Christopher Terrell and 40-year-old Betty Grant were charged Wednesday with first-degree murder. Prosecutors said the pair killed 49-year-old James Hunt, whose body was found Saturday by deputies who responded to the vehicle fire near Marked Tree.

Poinsett County Sheriff Larry Mills said Hunt had been shot and run over by the truck, which was set on fire. He didn't say how authorities connected Grant and Terrell to the crime.

They are each being held in lieu of $1 million bond at the county jail. It wasn't immediately clear whether they have attorneys.

Hunt's body has been sent to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
