FAYETTEVILLE — Police arrested a Farmington man Thursday after officers said he stabbed his dad in the leg while trying to stab himself in the neck at Finger Park.
Walter Lyn Templeton, 44, of 167 Countryside Drive faces felony charges in connection with aggravated assault on a family member and second-degree domestic battery.
Fayetteville police went to Finger Park, 1525 E. Farmers Road, for a report of a suicidal person.
According to an arrest report, Templeton had just stabbed his father in the leg and was threatening to stab himself in the neck.
Templeton dropped the knife at the request of police, according to the report.
Templeton told investigators he accidentally stabbed his father when he tried to stop Templeton from stabbing himself, according to the report.
Templeton was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held without bond Friday.
