Gas Leak Reported At West Fork Motel

WEST FORK — Fire Chief Mitch McCorkle said a small gas leak at the Dixie Motel sent a woman to the hospital just before noon Wednesday.

The woman, who wasn't identified, had migraine-like symptoms, McCorkle said.

McCorkle said another woman complained of a headache, but didn’t require medical treatment.

Rich Davis, Source Gas manager of community and government affairs, said utility crews investigated an odor of gas in a vacant room at the motel, 55 N. Centennial Ave., at 11:48 a.m.

“One of our service techs found a small leak around a valve on a water heater,” Davis said. “We fixed it and left. We were not advised at that time that any patients had been transferred.”

The Dixie Motel is owned by the nonprofit Lean on Me Ministries, according to Washington County property records.
