PUBLIC VIEWPOINT Extending Thanks For Helping Hands

Thank you to the young woman who was walking her black and brown labs in Fayetteville’s Gulley Park on Saturday morning (Oct. 19) and who managed to get me on my feet after a bad fall face down on some rocks.

It was not easy to get me up, not only because of my badly bruised ribs but also because of my superannuated, weakened legs. It also must have beenunpleasant because I was pretty bloody from facial lacerations. I regret that I was too dazed to get her name.

KUDOS ON POOL DECISION

In this age of cynicism

where it is “chic” to fi nd

fault and be negative related to our governance, kudos go out to the Bentonville School Board and the Bentonville City Council for collaborating by sharing in the funding of the indoor pool at our future recreation center.

Bentonville swim team(s) and students will have a place to practice and hold meets while the citizenry will have a place to do low-impact exercise. This is a good thing for the health of our people that can’t be merely measuredin dollars and cents.

It’s amazing what can happen when those who are elected to govern us set aside their egos and go about doing what they were selected to do - to improve the quality of life in our community.

Here’s hoping our elected oft cials at other levels of government follow suit.
