Tuition Gripes A Contradiction To Law

The headline in Sunday’s paper said, “College Tuition Hurts Illegal Immigrants.” Does anyone else see the contradiction in this statement?

Yes, increased tuition is painful, but why does it hurt illegal immigrants only? If they are in the United States illegally,we should not even be concerned with how it aff ects them.

As a college student, I feel the increase in tuition.

Why not highlight the student who is a citizen?

Why just focus on illegal immigrants? Illegal is illegal; there is no gray area. If someone does something against the law, they should be punished. And yet somany times we see on TV and in the newspaper that individuals are actually touting their illegal status. I don’t see why one can pick and choose which laws to obey and which to ignore.

With headlines and articles like this, we are choosing to ignore the law, plain and simple. If one wishes to enjoy our freedom, our educationalsystem, our medical services, then let them become citizens just like any one else who comes from another country.

Shame on your newspaper. You should be encouraging obedience to the law, not fl agrantly thumbing your nose at it!
