SPRINGDALE—A child was hurt Wednesday at 5:12 p.m. after three 7-year-olds were playing on the roof of Jones Elementary School, according to Jeff Taylor, Sergeant with the Springdale Police Department.

The children jumped off the roof at the same time the police pulled up to the school, Taylor said. A 7-year-old boy was taken to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale with an injured leg, he said.

The school year ended Tuesday in Springdale, according to Rick Schaeffer, communications director for the School District. There were no children inside the school Wednesday, he said.
