TRACK AND FIELD ASU qualifies three for NCAA

Arkansas State will have three representatives at the NCAA Outdoor Championships next month.

Sharika Nelvis earned her second consecutive trip to the NCAA Outdoors when she ran a 13.06 in the 100-meter hurdles to tie UCLA’s Brea Buchanan for the fastest time at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships on Saturday in Austin, Texas.

Solomon Williams ran a 13.80 in the 110-meter hurdle semifinals to finish fifth and earn a spot in the NCAA Outdoors, which will be June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.

Pole vaulter Stephanie Foreman qualified for a spot when she cleared 13-feet, 5 inches on Friday to tie for first place.

Zaborowska earns All-American honors

Harding sophomore Ewa Zaborowska placed fifth in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Division II track and field championships on Saturday with a time of 4 minutes, 34.24 seconds to earn All-American honors.

She became the first Harding All-American in the 1,500 since 2003 and completed an athletic year in which she earned such honors in cross country, indoor track (mile) and outdoor track (1,500).
