Peters Tops Competitive Series

Kenneth Peters won the Beaver Lake Competitive Series bass tournament held Saturday at Beaver Lake with six bass that weighed 13 pounds, 5 ounces.

Kevin Ceola was second with six bass weighing 12 pounds, 13 ounces. He also had big bass at 4 pounds, 7 ounces.

Third through fifth, all with six fish, were: Third, Rocky Hopkins, 12-6; fourth, Nathan Harp, 12-5; fifth, Lee McLean, 11-9.

Team Wins Cast

Masters Contest

Richard Brothers and Lynn McCutcheon won the Cast Masters bass tournament held Sunday at Beaver Lake with five bass that weighed 14.85 pounds.

Collin Cheatum and David Louks were second with five bass at 13.94 pounds. AllenWesfall and Richard Emerson had five bass at 13.3 pounds for third.

Mitzi Taylor had big bass at 5.16 pounds.

Spotted Bass Topic Of Meeting

The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission will host a public meeting at 7 p.m. today to discuss a proposal to eliminate the length limit on spotted bass at Beaver Lake starting next year. The meeting is at Ozarks Electric Cooperative, 3641 Wedington Drive, in Fayetteville.

Fisheries biologists will outline the reasons and goals of the proposal. The current 12-inch minimum length limit on spotted bass at Beaver will be eliminated starting Jan. 1 if Game & Fish commissioners approve the proposal.

Win Guys, Gals

Justin Hoffman and Cristy Stanley won the Beaver Lake Guys and Gals bass tournament on Sunday with four bass that weighed 6.84 pounds. They also had big bass at 2.84 pounds.

Justin and Pam Mounce were second with four bass at 5.06 pounds.

Program Focuses On Camping

“A Night in the Woods” program will be held at Devil’s Den State Park June 13-14.

It’san overnight event designed to introduce children to camping and having fun in nature.

Youngsters will learn how to pitch a tent and build a campfire. The event features games, craft making and learning outdoor skills.

Cost is $75. The program is recommended for children ages 8-12.

Tourney Benefits

Cancer Program

A one-fly trout tournament to benefit the Reel Recovery fishing program for male cancer survivors will be held on June 8 at the White River below Beaver Dam.

Entry fee is $20 and includes lunch and prize drawings. Pairing of partners is at 6:30 a.m. at the Beaver Dam Store. Fishing is from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Lunch and prizes are provided after the tournament.

Anglers may use only one fly during the tournament, but “mulligan” flies may be purchased at $5 each with a maximum of four flies.
